Would Jesus forgive this?
I'm sure most of you have heard this story. Here's the link to the excite news version:
http://apnews.excite.com/article/200...D7RU317O1.html This woman hit a guy with her car, and left him to slowly die in her garage over the course of several hours. And what does she have to say for herself : Quote:
[/rant] Does this mean that athiests are more moral? Or is this yet another exception to the rule? By the way, what sentence do you think she should get? -Lane [grumble...I know what I meant] |

Would Jesus forgive? Yes. Forgive them father for they not know what they do.
The woman freaked out and was afraid to go to prison. She knew she had to call, but was hoping for divine inspiration. Since God wouldn't do anything else, except for her to call the cops, God couldn't say anything, because God already told her to call the cops, but SHE didn't want to, because she didn't know what she was doing. Oh, and he died after 2 hours not days. DD - Love & Laughter |

Re: Would Jesus forgive this?
I think she's a repulsive halfwit who deserves life behind bars.
I also think that although I personally don't believe in God, his silence in this matter in no way constitutes an argument against belief. Why would he answer such a stupid question? |

Fear does indeed make people do irrational, stupid things, but are you seriously trying to tell us that xian's are such empty-headed, ignorant arseholes that they have to consult their Bible to find out what to do each time they mortally wound a fellow human being? Just sounds like a cop-out to me, on a par with the "God/the devil told me to do it" bullshit. Quote God and hope for a lighter sentence. |

Yes, I think Jesus would forgive her--and I think that she deserves a long sentence in jail of at least 20 years without parole. She hit someone with her car, gave him no aid, then dumped his body and tried to destroy the evidence. All because she didn't want to face drug and drinking charges.

She was on ecstasy and freaked out, she sought help the only place she could think off at the time. God already have told her to call an ambulance in a case like this, she thought God migt have a different solution for her. And no they are not empty-headed. But well said, do we need a God to tell us how we should live our lives? Do we need a god to tell us that Love is the smarter course of action? I hope not, ill tidings for humankind if it were eh? Just sounds like a cop-out to me, on a par with the "God/the devil told me to do it" bullshit. Quote God and hope for a lighter sentence. Forgive her, for if she knew, as you do, what she was doing, she would have called the ambulance. She freaked, just liek people during times a disaster, some go numb, and just sit, others take charge and so on. If she believes in God, then who else to consult, if she was freaked out, I mean, I don't know how level-headed I would be, had I just run over someone....under the influence. DD - Love & Laughter |

Point taken. I guess when you're high on ecstasy the idea of a supernatural being who can wave a magic wand and solve everything doesn't seem quite so daft.

LUKE 12:10, "And everyone that says a word against the Son of Man, that will be forgiven; But he that blasphemes against The Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. MARK 3:29, "Whoever blasphemes against The Holy Spirit will never have forgiveness, but is guilty of everlasting sin." MATTHEW 12: 31-32 "Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven. And whoever shall speak a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever shall speak against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age, or in the age to come". Blaspheming the Holy Spirit occurs when a person who allegedly should 'know better' rejects the Word of God which the Holy Spirit is attempting to bring into the heart of that person. Hence this rejection or this refusal is telling the Holy Spirit that what he is trying to bring into the person's heart is not being believed, that it's not worth the effort or the time to even look into it or study it, that the very Word of God is not important, and that the beliefs and teachings of Jesus Christ are being rejected. Which is why: a. Christianity is founded upon a cultish mindsnare based on fear and not love...as is most commonly asserted by Christians. b. Ultimately not firmly based on a rational, moral or ethical system of tenets. |
