Anyone want to have some fun refuting prophecies?
Over at the P.O.D baords, a poster (Mike) has really worked himself into a tizzy thinking he has dozens of prophecies that prove that the Bible is the word of God. Now usually I really enjoy refuting such claims, but from previous experience with this particular poster...well...I just can't stand him.
If anyone would like to have some fun putting him in his place, here's the thread: Proof that the Bible is the Word of God He's now started issuing such challenges as: Quote:

(For those who want to know why I'm slumming over there. I started a Bible Study on the gospel of Mark there. Nothing to heretical, just mainstream modern scholarship in the spirit of John Meier and the Anchor Bible Commentaries. I'm trying to introduce them to concepts like Form Criticism. Textual Criticism, and the Synoptic Problem. Consider it a public service. If they have to be Christians, I'd rather them be educated, sophisticated Christians.) |

I had to take a break from the POD board. There have been times that I just had to sit back, breath in deeply and tell myself that not all christians are like this. Mike is actually tame compared to the likes of Word in Edgewise and Night Spawn.
By the way, I am kung food fighting over there. |

Someone will tell him that a prophecy is vague and his response is that it's not vague to him, so how can it be vague to you. Someone will tell him that the book of Daniel should be dated to c. 165BCE his response is to show reasons why it might not be that late and then to think he's proven that it was dated to the Babylonian captivity. I just can't stand dealing with him and yet see that if he gets away with his little stunt, he'll claim a major victory for Christianity. |

Tell him to register at www.topica.com on the Biblical Errancy list. Till will be glad to debate someone over "prophesy."
In fact I'll make a prophesy right now. I prophesy that this guy will get the crap beat out of him. |
