Anyone else find it ironic that a guy who makes his employes sign a statement of faith is bitching about lack of academic freedom?

Or is that the kind of thing one would expect from a cretinist?

"At issue is the school's Statement of Biblical Worldview, in which professors agree that all courses will be taught with the understanding that God created the world in six 24-hour days. In a letter, academy President Jeffrey D. Wallin told Patrick Henry that the statement conflicts with the requirement that "liberty of thought and freedom of speech are supported and protected, bound only by such rules of civility and order as to facilitate intellectual inquiry and the search for truth."

Patrick Henry President Michael P. Farris said: "It took us by total surprise. Apparently, there are some [AALE] board members whose views on diversity just simply do not allow them to believe that someone who believes in creationism should be in the big tent of academic freedom."

Restricting research with a statement of faith would logically seem to be the antithesis of academic freedom!

Yes, I find it ironic and yes, it's the kind of thing I would expect from a creationist. If their scientific arguments aren't logically consistent, why should we expect consistency in anything else they say?

Cool

I suppose I'm intolerant.... but I don't feel any particular compulsion to allow psudeoscience and fantasy to be taught under the name of 'science.' Science classes are for scientific fact.

Call me intolerant if you must, but I'm not willing to give 'equal time' or 'equal treatment' to badly written psychotic fantasies.

There may not be such thing as absolute Truth, but fact is a different story.

Not all ideas are created equal. That which is stupid and ludicrous, should be treated as such.
