Both.

Of course, by "bad thing" I mean that I do not think it desirable. At least not yet. Someday, I may change my mind on this matter, as my desires and circumstances change.

you mentioned arguments from unbelief. fyi there are a few formalized versions on the infidels website. i imagine you already knew this, but in case you did not, they are under ted drange's pages.

This discussion thread has said a great deal about hell as annihilation.
I thought you might like the following link where Steven Locks, a (weak?) atheist discusses this view of hell with Henry Quon, a Christian.
