It should have been as Peter found it in Gibson's book:

(I am Mesha, son of Ch)emosh-yat, king of Moab, the Di(bonite)......

Still, great work!!

Yeah, I noticed that. I was actually a bit mad at myself for not realizing that M'B could be Moab.

I actually thought from looking at the translation on Hansen's site that M'B was the word for "the" (which gives you some idea how little Hebrew I know). Hell, it only dawned on me that MLK was Melek and meant king at the very last minute and added the changed translation as sort of a throwaway.

I didn't even think that there was an entire word in the transliteration that didn't show up in the translation.

Eh, well, what're you gonna do?

Doesn't matter whether a lexicon says it. I've tried to explain this to you. I don't expect you to get it because you don't actually translate Greek.

Or finding where Bart Ehrman claims to be an atheist. It would be nice to have such a respected scholar avowing the cause of atheism. Still, I can dream.

Email him yourself.

So King Arthur still cannot translate a simple Greek word, and justify his translation with sources, and he made up his claim about Bart Ehrman. I'm disappointed.

Exclamation

I suggest that this thread is not about "Biblical Criticism & Archaeology" but, rather, entirely about King Arthur's peurile attempts at self-aggrandizement. While I see no need to deny him such efforts, they seem far more appropriate to "Rants, Raves, Preaching, Etc."

Puerile and self-aggrandizement?! Me!? Anyways, who wuz it that made no attempt in the beginning to even try and learn something and take my challenge? Who wuz it who at the end when every thing is done and solved that comes in and still implies that I know nothing? I think there are a few others here who are puerile and self-aggrandizing. Perhaps that's why I've put on such a personality? To show them their own reflection?

I know you and Vorkosigan are trying hard to get my threads moved, but this is about Biblical Archaeology and the El Kerak inscription applies.

As a matter of fact, a few people have learned some things inspite of those who'll never learn. Follow their lead and you'll be the better for it.

This is about you, the thematic content of virtually all of your chatter. As eventually occurs with any persistantly unrulely child, you are rapidly becoming tiresome.

I'll take that as a complement.

BTW, I haven't exactly seen you step up to the plate and show your knowledge, but I've certainly seen you complain about mine.

You're just jealous!!

You know! You all should be really thankful that you have Wizardry, Peter, and a few others around! This place would be pretty intellectually backrupt without them!

And, of course, without me, you'd have no one to hate!
