Exactly!

Or wind tunnel testing in TN 14-16 hr shifts 7 days/week for 8 weeks straight and nothing else is ever open except ol' faithful across the street from the Holiday Yinn. I have fond memories. Plus, if you really care, you can watch the cook and waitress the entire time they prepare your food and know they never spit in it. Can't ask for more than that!

We don't have any out my way...

Had a great cup of coffee once,

A little house converted to a resturant in Lead, South dakota. The view out the window was the beautfull black hills, the view across the table was my new wife: tall slender, slinky black strappy almost backless dress, nylons, high heel ankle-strap shoes. A hundred watt smile. As we went in, she had casually mentioned she was wearing some new undergarment to show me later...

We had a perfectly done steak, crunchy outside, pink inside, next to it a lobster tail, melted butter, baked potato with all the "bad stuff" on it, blue cheese dressing on the salad. Don't remember what the the wine was, but it fit delightfully.

To finish, excellent home made cheesecake and the best cup of coffee I ever had.

I will always remember that cup of coffe - that was 32 years ago.

:notworthy wally

Sometimes, it's the presentation and decor that make the meal.

The best darn sandwiches in the world are served at Domini's in downtown Spokane. There's nothing fancy about it - french bread, fistfuls of meat, sliced cheese - served with fresh popcorn. Mmmm. I'm salivating thinking about it. Damn it, I haven't had a Domini's sandwich in months... who can I talk out of one?

I don't remember any names but several restaurants serving seafood in southern Spain(The beaches of Costa del Sol). "Coucinas" -sure to be mispelled- little seashells cooked in whitewine, vinegar and garlic are one my favorittes. Doesn't sound very complicated but truly amazing.

The best meal I've ever had at a restaraunt was at the Eiffel Tower restaraunt in Las Vegas. Lobster Thermador for the main course, brazed scallops for the appetizer, different types of breads, and for dessert my wife ordered a bannana souffle filled with vanilla bean cream and I ordered a chocolate souffle filled with the same. We shared back and forth but I consumed most of both. Everything was so good. I dropped close to... well I dropped some serious money on that one but it was well worth it.
Also Red Square at Mandalay Bay in Vegas deserves honorable mention. The food is really good, but it's the wide variety of vodka martini's and atmosphere that makes it a must every time we travel to sin city.
