Question Doubt

How many of you here have strong doubts about your beliefs? I mean does anyone hold out the possibility that in fact, christianty is true? Or (in the case of theists) naturalism is true?
In the past few years I have gone from a pretty strong atheist to a pretty weak one because of such doubts. I even sometimes think Magus and Badfish might be right after all! Am I the only one who feels this way?

Doubting is fine, nothing wrong with that. I know that I don't know everything, so it's always better to approach new information with an open mind. It's also very important to know how to sort rubbish from the truth. But I'm curious, what exactly have Magus and Badfish said that you actually think is right?

Jesus is the son of God
Evolution is a fraud
I知 going to hell

Keep in mind that I think the above examples are probably complete b.s., but I知 just not sure anymore.

Jesus is the son of God...just as Hercules is the son of Zeus.

I have many doubts, Corso, about many things...that is my skeptical nature.

'Christianity' has, long ago, been easily exposed as a weak fable attempting to describe the beauty of the natural universe.

Furthermore, there is no need for any god(s)ess(es) to explain the world that I live in...to include the christian superman among the thousands of others.

I have little-to-no doubt that the natural world is all there is. Though I have entertained the notion of returning to the fold as a Spongian christian, just because of social pressures here in the Philippines. Don't worry, those thoughts only lasts for a few seconds.

Edited to add: Could a mod transfer this post to a duplicate thread here? [Done --Celsus]

Christianity is Grade B bullshit.

It's not even high quality bullshit.

Xians believe in a book that includes among other things talking snakes, food falling from the sky, people who lived to be over 900 years old, a boat big enough to carry every living species in the world, a universe that was created in seven days, a god who punishes at whim and ask his followers to make incredible sacrifices just for his own ego, blood sacrifice as the center of salvation, virgin birth, a man being raised from the dead after three days, the subjugation of women, slavery as a viable moral option, etc. How exactly do you think the Xians might be right when they have such silly beliefs?

I think you are just letting your fears and imagination get the best of you. If you've not read it before, read Sagan's, The Demon Haunted World. It will help you debunk Xian claims as well as many other silly claims.

Certitude cures doubt, not ignorance. And with doubt conquered, ignorance is invincible.

Doubt is unpleasant but certitude is ridiculous.

The fundamental cause of trouble in the world today is that the stupid are cocksure while the intelligent are full of doubt.

The opinions that are held with passion are always those for which no good ground exists; indeed, the passion is the measure of the holder's lack of rational conviction.

It has been said before: nothing wrong with doubt and, equally important, little reason to trust anybody who lacks doubt.

Ok. And why is it convincing that Jesus is the son of God? I'm not even sure I believe Jesus existed (though it is a high probability), let alone led a life anything like the Gospels (which is a much lower probability), or met any of the Messianic prophecies or expectations (probability; about zero), or indeed, was the son of God. And why exactly do you think that evolution is a fraud? What convincing arguments have Badfish and Magus made that might cause you to doubt (and where are they? I want to join in if no one else is beating their heads in about it).
