What's wrong with Where's George? It's harmless, and kinda cool! I don't have a stamp, so I just use a red ink pen (Uni-ball VISION ... they're waterproof and fade-proof)!

Unfortunately, I've seen some God/Jebus stuff in some Georgers' profiles.

Do the coins still work in vending machines, if the IGWT is gouged out with a dremel tool?

The effort is well worth it, I think, because coins will survive much longer than bills. I do the coins sometimes, not nearly as often as bills (and I like the "golden" dollar coins the best) and the method I use is a little tool I bought at the hardware store and which is usually used for marking point markings in sheet metal. The neat part is that it is self-contained spring device - no hammer necessary. What I did is file the tip to increase surface area and reduce pressure. Yes it needs some preparation work (5 minutes) but when it's done it works very well.

The coins so prepared work in vending machines just fine.

I prefer to cross out "god" and put "science" in its place. I bet that *really* pisses the godbots off.

You know-- If this practice becomes wide-spread enough so that a few Christians notice, I would bet that Congress will quickly amend the law to make it illegal simply to "deface" money, or perhaps , specific language just to protect "God".

Worked fine last time I tried it. I used one of those new dollar coins. I do suppose they could be made unusable with too much altering though, as these dollar coins are a bit different than all the rest. Something about how the machines detect slugs, conductivity or something like that.

I still take a sharpie thru IGWT from time to time whenever the mood hits me.

Don't just cross out, put something interesting there.

I tend to cross out god and put in whatever comes to mind:
Dog
Thor
Mithras
Cat
(In) Cognito
(In) Fidel
(In) Justice
Profits
Mamon
Life

etc.

RD

Incidentally, I have never had a bill come to me already marked out.

I've been doing the black Sharpie thing for at least five years and yes, it does feel good to cross IGWT out. Every time I do it I hope it causes the person, if they notice it, to think a bit. But I also haven't had any bill with it already crossed out or "re-phrased".
