It's got to hurt, having so much invective thrown at a you.

Maybe in BBB members minds, what they are doing to the Rev. in cyberspace with their hateful intolerance,is what Jesus did to the money lenders in the temple. If I remember the story correctly, the money lenders were in the temple, one would presume, with permission from the temple elders to set up shop. While Jesus didn't like it, they were there legally. But, here's the twist, would the Rev. have stood up for the moneylenders? Then he would have disagreed with Jesus. But isn't he a Christian?

This is another example of the ridiculous emotional baggage to go through life with on account of religion.

Rev. Joshua:

Sorry I'm coming in late on this thread. Most of the regulars have already covered most of the important points. I'd just like to add that I also applaud your principled stance, and especially your even-handedness with the vitriolic criticism you encountered on the BB.

I was thinking about what I would have done in the circumstances, and weighing my opposition to the Christian Right against my distaste for the everything the porn shop represents. I came to the conclusion that I probably would not have made the same decision you did (even with my wife forcing me into it ). However, that's merely my opinion, and detracts nothing from what you did in this case. I simply tend to pick and choose my battles. Well done.

My real reason for this post is I was struck by something Pope-in-the-Woods posted:
Quote:
What did you expect from Helen and her BaptistBoard ilk now that there aren't any atheists for them to gang up on? Is that a bulls-eye I see on chest there, Reverend?
I don't/never did spend any time on the Baptist Board - not even to lurk unless someone posts a link to a specific thread. [I simply don't see it as my business to attack anyone's belief system - no matter how primitive or brain-dead I may personally consider it. I couldn't care less if someone wants to worship ancestor spirits in rocks and sacrifice goats at the full moon (in fact, I can make 'em a good deal on sacrificial goats, wholesale).] However, I was wondering if anyone - including Rev. Joshua - has noted any significant increase in self-mutilation on that board since the ban of the Satanic 25. It would be interesting to see if the cathartic release provided to the regulars over there by atheist bashing is now becoming inwardly-directed anger since the satanists' banishment. IOW, are the jackals starting to feed on their own now that the heathen non-believers have been purified?

Just curious.

WOW! Thanks for all of the very kind and supportive words. I am particularly grateful for the fact that you folks actually read my explanation for why I was there and the reasoning that went behind it.

It's nice to know that I have credibility with at least one group that spends its time thinking about issues of faith (even if their conclusions are a wee bit different ).

Thanks again.

Joshua
