The idea that you need an "ultimate authority" to decide anything is silly. By stating this you are saying that rational thought cannot exist in and of itself. This is simply wrong and repeating it will not make it true. Rationality is not dependent on an "ultimate authority".

Not to say "If I drop the rock, standing here on the surface of the earth, in the atmosphere, will it fly up" has an obvious answer, eh?

The person seems to leave out actual testing for some reason.

Once again, I submit that the only belief invoved in the scientific method is a rejection of ultimate solipcism.

I agree but I'm sure the reply would be: "how do you know the rock really fell?" :banghead:
