Is this the same China we are trying to get to follow international law. Kind of a do as I say not as I do, on both sides of the isle.

The truth is that there is now very little law out there. Even the good guys have reverted to might is right as the only moral creed.

Irony meter way up there but there is one consideration:

If CHINA considers this to be a gross violation of international law--you've GOT to say, "Maybe we should back off here".

Thumbs up

Look, if we couldn't convince Germany to go to war, this was all over way before China piped in (though I'm glad they did).

Could you explain please. I'm assuming they must have conducted some sort of similarly reprehensible invasion with Tibet. I'm not very strong on military conflict...it's something I'm working on so if you would explain for me..

Yep china invaded Tibet in the 1950s brutally replacing the wealthy religious elite with chinese officials.

Everyone always gets upset about these gentle budhist rulers, but few people consider what life under them was like for the poverty-sticken masses.

Well, yes, but it was still an imperialist takeover of another nation.

I've broken nine irony meters in the last twenty-four hours. This is fucking pathetic. All of it.

Typical (but untypically brief)Koy post:

1)China "piped in" long ago: a Security Council permanent member, it has been opposing a hard line on Iraq for months (perhaps behind the scenes for years).

2)The reference to Germany was gratuitous and uninformed: due to a self-consciousness about its history in the first half of the 20th Century, Germany is the last European great power to want to intervene militarily in another country, even when said intervention is under the auspices of the UN and/or NATO. If anything, Germany should be much harder to convince to intervene in Iraq than, say, Spain.

Cheers!
