Post Are you following Satan into HELL?

My Christian sister said that God doesn't "send" people to Hell (cuz he's a nice guy); he created hell for Satan and people follow him in. So God is not responsible for the eternal damnation of people. Is this interpretation Biblical?

All the coolest people are in hell, so I hope to be going!

Why would I want to go to heaven? It is full of all those annoying Xians!

Whether it's Biblical or not I'll leave to the Bible scholars, but it's certainly in line with Catholic doctrine. The Pope even said so recently. God doesn't send people to hell; they choose to go there of their own free will through rejecting Him. Nevermind that He apparently decided not to provide enough evidence on which we might base a rational decision about whether to believe in Him or not, allowed us to populate our world with false gods further confusing the issue and can't even keep those who say they believe in Him believing quite the same things.

The Christian god is such a nihilist. He claims to be all-powerful and moral yet creates a torture chamber for his creations who don't fawn all over him. What a piece of crap the christian god is.
It is a sign of being a moral person to not believe in the christian god.

The fact that top leaders of the Nazi Government could go to heaven by becoming xian and some nice old lady goes to hell because she didn't suckup to the christian god is evidence that said christian god is a moral abomination and all who believe are nihilists.

If christianity was a moral religion it wouldn't believe in hell. The religion is nihlism par excellence. To hell with it!

Tirade over. I am preaching to the converted.

IvanK, I thought the Xian gawd was "all knowing" though.

That means he decided that certain people were going to burn before they were even created, since he already knew that it was going to happen in advance. Oh, what a great loving "father" he is, eh?

Is this interpretation Biblical?

Just about any interpretation of hell can, and has, been declared "biblical."

sullster, you hit the nail right on the head! If he's all-powerful he could prevent us from all going to hell ... OR, maybe he is all powerful, but not benevolent! Like in the OT.

Hmmm... new topic: Is god bi-polar? OT god v. NT god. Think about it!

I'm pretty sure TheOnion reported that God had been diagnosed manic-depressive. I'm sure someone else will find the link.

Anyway, God becomes whatever is convenient for the people following. This says something quite significant to me (namely, that God is a construct - which seems obvious to me, but some people seem to need the concept explained)

If we're to believe the Xian hell idea, then God must be really stupid. A Xian of mine told me that for God, one sin is the same as another in his eyes. So I said, "God sees no difference between a little kid yoinking a candy bar and Hitler killing millions?" And he replied with "No difference in God's eyes."

Basically like sullster said (but I'm going to use a little different example), if Xianity is true then Gandhi is guaranteed to be in hell (unless he gave his life to Jebus as the bullet was going into his body), but Hitler could be in heaven if he "sincerely repented." .

I'd rather be in hell with good Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, Pagans, etc than be in heaven with people who just happened to pick the right religion. When watching online a sermon from the church I used to go to for a few months, the pastor was talking about people who don't accept Jebus. He said that even if you are not rejecting Jebus and are trying to find your own path, you are following Satan's path. And that hit an emotional chord with me. If I'm not with Jebus, then I'm with Satan. The only response I can come up with for that is Gooooooooo Satan! . Satan doesn't ask anything from me, but Jebus wants a minimum 10% of everything I make ("Tithing is 10% off the top. That's gross income, not net. Please people, don't force us to audit.").

I think that's enough Simpsons references for one post .
