Post GWB's Xmas message

Excerpt;

During Christmas, we gather with family and friends to celebrate the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ. As God's only son, Jesus came to Earth and gave his life so that we may live. His actions and his words remind us that service to others is central to our lives and that sacrifice and unconditional love must guide us and inspire us to lead lives of compassion, mercy and justice.

John ~

1:7
For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

3:36
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Luke ~

19:27
But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

Revelations ~

21:8
But the fearful, and *unbelieving*, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

You make the call.

"President Bush is asking Americans today to omit "Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Men" from their Christmas Prayers this year.

"The President's press secretary said that the traditional holiday phrase "sends the wrong message to God and our enemies about our nation's resolve to disarm Saddam Hussein"

Said the president "Who are we trying to fool? We all know what's about to happen. Why get God's hopes up?"

As we share love and enjoy the traditions of this holiday, we are also grateful for the men and women of our armed forces who are working to defend freedom, secure our homeland and advance peace and safety around the world.

Blatant govt. endorsement not only of religion but of a particular religion.

Is he going to issue similar pronouncements for all the other religions that celebrate the Solstice in their own peculiar way?

Doesn't sound much like an "establishment" of religion to me. It's not Congress making a law. In fact, it's not law at all, is it?

I guess if he was a pagan, he would be free to do so. Would that bother you? Would that be an establishment of religion? Would that be Congress making a law?

You're obviously unfamiliar with the SCOTUS decisions regarding church and state. You and your fellow True Christians may think that it's just fine for this unelected idiot to mention your imaginary deity in almost every fucking speech, but the rest of us don't. Government should be completely neutral towards religion. That is by far the best policy for believers and non-believers.
