I didn't know what a duct was until today. Until I read the post about somebody using it to tape a duct, I thought "duct" was an adjective describing the tape, like double-stick, invisible, or masking (yes I know mask is a verb). WOW! Learn something new every day!

Duct tape is guaranteed to protect you in gas attack. It's designed to seal ducts. You only need to place a 4 inch strip across your nose and mouth. It's effective against any gas.

Not if you poke a couple of holes through for your nostrils silly.

Crazyfingers, duct tape will now be a required item on all my future canoe trips. I can't believe I hadn't thought of it before.

Plus if you lose your bear rope you could just tape your food pack to a tree....

Duct tape can fix a lot of broken/damaged gear.

Canoes and canoe seats
Holes in tents, packs or tarps
With a stick you can fix a busted paddle
It can be used as first aid such as to splint a broken arm

If you could seal up your house with duct-tape and plastic sheets well enough to keep out the posion gasses and such...won't you also have sealed it up enough to keep out all of the *air*???

One person might survive for 5 minutes in a plastic, ducked taped room without O2. I just made up the 5 minutes, but I don't think it would be very long. Especially with an entire family.
