Being Burned Alive
Looking for some help.
Ocassionally I run across the xian poster who is very emotionally "into" the belief that his or her "savior" was "crucified." In dealing with such emotional appeals I usually provide some rather graphic OT passages describing heinous behavior carrried out by their supposed god. But what I'm also looking for is a medical description of what happens in the course of a person's being burned alive. Besides countering emotional appeals to crucifixion, I also think that such a description would be very useful in countering a lot of the emotionalism associated with abortion, as we are constantly bombarded with messages based upon very graphic descriptions of certain abortion procedures. Can anyone help me? I'd research it and write something up myself, but as I am not so medically gifted, I am hoping that it has already been professionally done somewhere. joe |

Keeping away from the graphic descriptions of being burned alive, I would ask if I'm supposed to feel pity for Jesus because he died on the cross?
Continuing, I might remark that Jesus seems like a rather pitiful figure. |

It isn't pleasant.
I am moving this to Miscellaneous discussions as I don't think burning to death in agony is necessarily a secular lifestyle issue- except for those unusual masochists out there. For what it is worth- consider the different types of burning- scalding with water is very different from an oil burn which is very different from the internal cooking one gets when struck by lightning which is very different from the burning one gets from a naked flame. |

I assume you're talking about being burned at the stake as the Christians did to "witches" so the Church would have no 'blood' on it's hands (yes that is the reason they gave for burning people)
The first minute or two would be extremely unpleasant, then you would most likely go into shock and die shortly from the hot smoke going into your lungs from the fire at your feet. Once the skin is burned through, 3rd degree, the nerves are gone as is the pain, burn victims are in the most pain when they start to heal. I used to live in an apt. bldg. above a burn unit critical care RN. Unpleasant but fairly quick. |

Unless I miss my guess, the OP is looking for a medical description of the eternal fate that the Big Guy has in store for the ~90% of us from whom He has chosen to withhold sufficient evidence of His existence.
