"But they're the same people!" Religious divisiveness
This is taken from a couple of programmes I've seen recently.
One is from Mumbai(Bombay). There is a an enclave of several thousand Muslims totally surrounded by Hindus. The Hindus in power have basically cut them off, one nationalist in particular. So utilities are breaking down and rubbish is piling up in the streets. A youth group is trying to get the city leaders to do something.Usually you think of muslim youth being brainwashed into wanting to kill everyone else and destroy non muslim things. These people just want their rubbish removed. They are all the same population though. You couldn't see any racial differences. The only difference is that they are muslim and hindu. Of course in other parts of India you get hundreds killed from each group in riots. In Indonesia the problem is muslims and christians. The moronic youth of the communities are going around committing tit for tat massacres. This was all on one island. They're the same people! They're were reports of killing women and children, even pregnant women. Each side accusing the other of attrocities. You've got the classic Irish conflict. They're the same fucking religion, basically, though they may as well not be. A similar thing happens with different sects of Islam in the middle east. "you're not fundamentalist enough!" "You're too fundamentalist!" "Let's fight!!" |

I know, I know!
I can't believe it either. What was it some months ago about children in Northern Ireland (?) had to be escorted to school for fear of attacks? Against schoolchildren!?! Unbelieveable. ...and both Islam and Xianity claim to be religions of PEACE!
I didn't even know about some of the examples you've provided. Thanks for sharing. |
