What a thread. If there was a Hell, this would be it.
I don't believe that the Bible is infallible. I don't believe that there is a Hell. I don't believe that Humans are depraved. I don't believe that Jesus is the "only" way. I believe that there is an afterlife. I believe that how we behave on Earth and how we treat others matters far more than "being saved". I believe that humans have distorted Christianity, from a loving doctrine to one of judgement and hate. So keep your Christianity. I don't care anymore. |

Besides I think you only really only need to believe that Jesus is the only way, everything else is just details. Once Jesus is in your life (not that he's ever left), he will guide you. Never listen to humans on matters of your faith, you can learn from them, but don't let them tell you *how* to seek Jesus, that's what you have the bible and your Church for. If you can't trust them, then you can't trust anything pertaining to the faith. |

And 'the Bible' usually means 'the Bible as interpreted by some or other humans. I think it's interesting that John's gospel says "Now while he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many people saw the miraculous signs he was doing and believed in his name. But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all men. He did not need man's testimony about man, for he knew what was in a man." (John 2:23-25) How about if you only trust God? Would that work? What would that look like? Helen |

Goliath, you may couch your insults in the conditionals of courtesy and personal opinion, but they are as unacceptable in that guise as in any other. If you find this thread too ass-kissing for your tastes, then perhaps you should refrain from posting to it.

Annabel and I haven't actually had many doctrinal debates, we may throw in a few jabs here and there, but the problem I see is that she is being too worried about other peoples side of debate. LIVE IN THE NOW!!!! |

And since when is it logical to base an assumption or stereotype on one person? Now be honest, have I been smarmy with you personally? |

livius drusus,
Looking back, my last post in this thread was a bit uncalled for. My apologies (not for believing the last statement I made in this thread to be true, but for posting it). Sincerely, Goliath |
