Post Really scary CNN poll

At cnn.com there is a poll which states:

"Do you agree with the U.S. Constitution's separation of church and state?"

The current vote is:

Yes 74%
No 26%

That 26% of those voting seemingly want religion in government is unbelievable.

Ayatollah Bush does have a nice ring about it, however..

Not to mention how hypocritical the voters are, as the poll is an exact opposite of asking whether "under God" in the pledge is unconstitutional.

As usual, people are not decidedly one way or another. The support Church and State separation, as long as they can have their "minimal" violations like God in the pledge and God on currency.

Not at all. I went to one forum to debate, and the Christian opposing the movement said, "Christianity is the correct religion, maybe if we keep the word 'God' people will realize that."

The Christian meme is self-reinforcing. Probably, the 26% are all born-agains and fundies who want all other religions to see the error of their ways.

The 26% number actually sounds about right to me. A clear minority.

26% is actually sort of encouraging. I'd have guessed it would be much higher. In my neck of the woods, it most definitely is.

Assuming an accurate poll (which it is obviously not) 26% means we got a LOT of theists going with us.

Why? Free thinkers, in Oregon, account for 28%. In Washington, 27%. (Numbers according to NYU survey). Everywhere else, less. In fact, nationally, I believe it's 13%. Which means, yeh! Yes Virginia, there are sane theists!

Some of us theists get cold chills at the thought of Government having a hand in our religious beliefs.

Yeah, as if we need more politics in church...

It doesn't shock me, since I know that ~25% of the united states are the christian findies who think (paraphrasing the leader of USCS) that the government should help them with the spread of their religion and not that they do it themselves.

The votes on the current case polls are not surpising either since the questions are poor. Some don't even mention the under god part.
