History/credibility of the King James Bible

The above article is a brief summary of, and commentary on, the history of the KJV. I'm no Bible scholar myself and would be interested in the thoughts of others. (I'd love to get this topic up on the Baptist Board but methinks that would be a waste of time..) |

It would be interesting to read the book. A lot of Shakespeare's plays had things in them that supported the British monarchy, especially the histories, so it wouldn't be surprising to find that working in the KJV too. Whether that makes it a more or less accurate English translation than the Geneva or any other version I leave to the scholars. For my money the KJV is the finest work of literature ever assembled by committee, though these days I prefer the New King James which dumps all the archaic endings and such without sacrificing the vigor and power of the "original."
