When did Pangea break apart?
For my own edification what is the time line reference for Pangea? I am trying to sort out the various animals on the different continents, particularly Australia.
Thanks |

I think the last time all the continents were together was about 150 Myr ago. There's a fun animation here

Pangea started to break apart toward the end of the Triassic (I don't know the age in years, but it was around 200 million years ago, and IIRC the oldest oceanic crust in the Atlantic is ~180 million years old).
At that time, Austrailia was connected to Africa, Antarctica, and India, and they broke up some time in the Cretaceous and into the Tertiary (I don't remember anything more specific than that). |
