God hates no one...
An interesting apologetic for the statements in the Bible confirming that the supernatural God of the Jews and Christians does hate. http://www.jayforrest.org/godhates.htm |

My thoughtcontroll over my beloved Amie (hallo lieve schat ) has reached disturbing proportions indeed. I'm sure many here have witnessed the tight grip I have on her.

As far as those signs and what not I just think anytime one feels a need for seperateness and to spew hatred as in Phelps case all it does is create animosity ultimately damaging to people... |

However most christians in this country do not support the KKK ideology. Nor do they support Aryan Nation. Keep in mind that some religious groups will use the authority of God to justify their evil deeds. "sort of like the others all seem to do"... does this "all" apply to any christian or do you differenciate between christians who live their faith and will fight racism, bigotry, prejudice and the opportunists you are describing? oh by the way... is it your impression that a church going man is good and decent or are you being sarcastic? most folks I know who attend the church I attend do not consider themselves as good and decent..... they consider themselves trying to meet that goal. Big difference. |

Oftentimes, the traits of the god a person worships bears an eerie resemblance to the traits of the worshiper. For example, sweet, kind people usually believe in a benovolent god while homophobic assholes like Phelps usually believe in asshole gods. Even when those gods are based on the same scriptures.
This is why I try to avoid theists who believe in a god that created a literal Hell. Odds are, if I were to get to know them, I would find that they really creep me out. |

BTW, I saw the same special on the History channel and my mom called me a liar when I told her about it.. lol They had nothing to do with Christianity or her god. Keep in mind, she is psychotic over religion. All those people who drank that grape Kool-Aid were True Christians too.. Why don't all the 10's of thousands of sects of xianity get together and try to figure out what the hell the Truth is? (I can picture the blood bath now) |

Fairness for unbelievers and Christians
I consider Phelps to be an abomination, a very evil madman. But are we to blame all Christians for him? No.
I don't want to be blamed for sharing non-belief with Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot. That would be unfair. I should not be blamed for communists. In the same way good decent mainstream and liberal Christians should not be blamed for Phelps, Adolf Hitler, Richard Butler (Aryan Nations), the KKK, the Nazi Party, The Army of God, Christian Identity, Christian Reconstruction, the Inquisition, Cromwell's homicidal fundamentalists. Not all Christians are fundamentalists or Nazis, as not all Atheists are communists. Those kind of accusations are likely to bounce back on us. Each side of every ideology has its monsters and wankers. Phelps major agenda is not religion. It is homophobia, which studies have indicated occurs mostly in repressed homosexuals. Their reaction formation causes them to lash out at open homosexuals, who represent the demons that internaly torment them producing severe psychological stress. I believe that Phelps is a man, a very fearful and angry man, fighting his internal demons by striking at the visible images (homosexuals) who represent his own homosexual desires (demons.) Amergin |
