EoG readers, welcome diana, the new EoG Mod. She has graciously agreed to step into Jobar's shoes.

For those of us who are less frequent visitors to this forum, would you or Diana give a general profile as to her stance on issues discussed here?
If no, OK. Fiach |

I imagine diana has a multitude of highly nuanced and carefully articulated stances on the issues discussed here. You can be sure that whatever her position might be, her shit is so tight it would turn a diamond-coated carbide drill to butter.
Congratulations, sis. EoG is a lucky forum. |

Thank you, all. (And thanks for the intro, sis. No pressure. )

Fiach,
Many of the things that are discussed here are outside my experience...which of course means those topics don't actually exist. Sorry. Goofy mood this evening. What I meant to say was, I haven't been a regular in this forum for quite some time. I'm amazed at the broad range of subjects that get bandied about here. I thought it was limited to EoG discussions, but I see things that don't fall into that category that are allowed to stay, so I'll probably lie low as a mod for a bit until I can get a feel for what belongs and what doesn't. (Pascal's Wager, of course, will be removed forthwith; I have no problem spotting that stupidity.) I think I've heard all the arguments for EoG, and I think they all fail miserably, which is precisely the reason the concept of faith is necessary to religion. I think "outside of logic" and "outside of time" and "outside of science" are all nonsense concepts. I think agnostics are atheists with good PR. I don't believe in true solopsists (which is fair, since they don't really believe in themselves), and regard discussions of "what can we really know?" that go that far beyond pragmatism as a waste of time and bandwidth. If we have visits from self-proclaimed solopsists, I'm likely to follow the thread for the express purpose of reminding the regulars that it's considered poor form to beat the crap out of mental patients. I have special problems with the definition of "atheist" as "one who denies the existence of God," since I know of no gods to deny the existence of. Atheists are people who aren't theists, period. That's all that pops into my head at the moment. I enjoy sharing my opinion, so you'll know soon enough, I'm sure, where I stand on just about any subject that comes up. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. d |

Diana, I am glad you are here.
I asked her if she was interested, you know. [ December 17, 2002: Message edited by: B. H. Manners ]</p> |
