Imagine if they outlawed BOTH masturbation AND pre-marital sex. They'd explode.

But it has to be done right.

Any discussion of Christian sexuality must begin with a restatement of fact: unmarried Christians have no need of the oft-referenced "sex life". . . . .

Like anything else, masturbation must be examined in the light of what it is, what it does, and the long-range effects of it. Indulgence in it can be harmful when taken to an extreme, but then so can over-indulgence in double-fudge chocolate cake. From research and reading on the subject, it seems that masturbation is harmless in every way from a physical and mental standpoint -and there is no known Scriptural prohibition that can be pointed to, for spiritual instruction to the contrary. However, there are considerations that must be met, in order for such self-gratification to be harmless.

"Matthew:5:28: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart." It seems that most people fantasize about something while masturbating, and if that fantasy involves a named and known, living human being, the prohibition of Matthew 5:28 would apply: lust is lust, whether the object of the lust is present or not. ...
It does sound like he has (ahem) researched this subject

I must point this verse out to my mother and ask her what exactly her… er… lower digestive system had to do with my name.
Well, QoS, I'm a mother and ...it's a bit delicate, but...my bowels soemtimes produce gurgles and rumbles. I suppose once in a while they might name names.

Ha! Very nice find, Queen of Swords. I'm surprised you didn't get into the Rapture bit, there's some golden remarks in there. Still, they give us atheists some hope:

If you have not made Jesus Christ Lord over your life, in the Day of Judgment angels will drag you to the portals of hell and throw you in, there to spend eternity with the people whose company you enjoyed and approved of while on Earth -and the devil you valued more than Christ. In truth, if you never gave your heart, soul and spirit to Jesus Christ while alive on the Earth, you will be much happier in hell; as you never had anything in common with Christians, you would be very uncomfortable in Heaven, and so God will not permit you to go there.

Whew!

So, if you masturbate while thinking about Jesus, it's all right?

Well, have you continued to praise and worship your ex?

It is also noteworthy at this juncture that masturbation is Scripturally not a sin only when it does not involve a living person in any accompanying fantasy. (See Matthew 5:28)

So only think about dead people when masturbating? Eww...
