Here's an old thread on the topic (I cleaned up some of the links, but not all of the old uBB formatting problems, but you can figure it out.)

yoga class = religious instruction ?

In short, yoga can be a religious practice, or it can be an exercise class.

It is indeed ironic that Christians want everyone to salute the flag "under God" and can't see the problem with that, but get upset when some watered down exercises that have a remote connection to Hinduism are proposed.

Yoga came up at CF some time back. Though most of the Christians on that thread conceded that hatha yoga was a good method of low-stress exercise, there were some who vociferously opposed it on the grounds that it was Satanic, and no amount of reasoning with them would sway them to reconsider their position.

Bad, bad Pranayama!
