Another Pond Life Question
So, I've had a bottle filled with water from my pond (Suburban/Rural Minnesota) sitting on my window sill for about three weeks now. I've noticed that with more time comes more bugs and creatures.
There are long, skinny, clear worms that move across the side of the bottle like a caterpillar. What are they? There are long skinny, dark worms sealed on the side of the bottle in some kind of algae and goop, and they appear to be constantly in an attempt to free themselves for they are always moving. What are they? If anyone has a slight idea, let me know. My guess is that they are some kind of nematode. |

This pond identification site is in England but is meant to help identify the different types of freshwater organisms.

Do the small dark ones have a diamond shaped head and two eyespots? They may be Planaria, and are very common. I've done some interesting science experiments with them when I was in high school. You can teach them, cut them in half, let the halves have offspring, and the offspring are also trained as well. Kinda cool.
