I've always wondered:

One part of the reason for the Flood was that the "Sons of God" (i.e. angels) came down to Earth and started doing the nasty with human beings. Assuming that they actually had children with these humans, what ever happened to those children? Did they drown in the Flood?

Ever heard of the Nephilum? Huge human skeletons people 'find' and proceed to 'catalog' 'somewhere' where no one else ever gets to examine them?

That's them. And yes, they were supposed to have died during the flood.

Adrienne Mayor's book "The First Fossil Hunters" describes ancient Greco-Roman views of fossils; some of them were considered the bones of long-ago heroes and giants.

So some of the Bible's writers may have had similar ideas -- they find bones of elephants and rhinos and conclude that these are bones of Nephilim.

The Sacred Text is a little fuzzy on that point (surprise!) Yes, God sent the flood to destroy the evil half-breeds (Gen 6:3-5), but a few thousand years later, they seem to be alive and kicking (Numbers 13:33).

Which raises the question: did the gods come down from Heaven again, after the Flood, to boink the maidens - or was Noah or one of his sons a half-breed? Perhaps Noah should have paid more attention to the company that Mrs Noah was keeping...
