Where is he?
OK, Christians, it's been 2000 years now or more since Ole' JC said "I'll be back".
Is there any justification in the Bible for a Savior God who takes that long to come back? Is there any indication for God coming down here for a short time to give his followers a taste of what he is and then disappear for 2000 years? This is one of the puzzling things about Christianity that I simply cannot fathom, and cannot imagine why people still believe that he's coming after all these years. SLD |

(2 Peter 3:8-9) However, let this one fact not be escaping YOUR notice, beloved ones, that one day is with Jehovah as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day. 9 Jehovah is not slow respecting his promise, as some people consider slowness, but he is patient with YOU because he does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance.

I'll tell younone thing. Christians have been predicting the end of the world for 1500 years, and it still hasn't come. |

Kinda like 'If you tell a big enough Lie, and keep on repeating it, in the end people will come to believe it.'
So where is the Daniel thread? |

An omnipotent being would be capable of making everybody act completely virtuous, otherwise that being would not be omnipotent. |

What's more obvious to me is that the above reasoning is what kept the oppression of the church over innocent people alive and well for so long. I mean, if you were to say that god can come unexpectedly at any time to punish the world for it's sins so you better do as we say, from now until forever (because there is no limit to the definition of "soon" to god), then wouldn't it be pretty convenient if god NEVER returned. The church would have secured its power until the end of existance. |
