From what I've read, this is rather good evidence that Antiochus was who the author of Daniel was writing about: Daniel was actually written during the time of Antiochus as subversive literature. However, writing directly about the then current administration was putting oneself on a very short path to the executioner. However, by writing what on the surface appeared to be a history set many hundreds of years in the past the writer got around that little problem. Again based upon what I've read, the actions reported to have been taken by Nebukadrezar during the Babylonian exile were more accurately associated with Antiochus. For example, Nebukadrezar never ordered the Jews to worship him as a god - Antiochus did. The whole book of Daniel can in that light be seen as a warning to the Jews of Antiochus' day to avoid giving in to the Assyrian dictates. Jews of the day would have immediately made the connection. |

My SSN has 5 sixes in a row. Every time I had to tell it to someone, their eyes would light up. Sometimes, it is the light of fear.

If it wasn't for your track record, FF, I would suspect that you were faking such stupidity.
I hope you are not working for any defence companies/government organisations. They build subs these days out of titanium and steel, not number sequences..... |

OK, enough is enough, quit trying to confuse FF with facts, it's obvious that his mind is already made up.
It's amazing to me that so many people know so little about history after reading their first history book, know little about philosophy after reading their first philosophy book, know very little about math after reading their first math book; but let them read a few verses of the bible and suddenly they not only know everything about religion but are ready to teach everyone what they know. |
