Leviticus?
I've never really read the Bible, but I tend to hear a lot from the book of leviticus from parody sites. Something about it being removed? I'm just wondering if someone could enlighten me.

Most Christians ignore most of Leviticus (except for the bit about homosexuality and the bits about witches) because of Paul's statement that they are no longer under the Law but under grace. Thats the only context in which it is removed, if thats what you mean? --Egoinos-- |

It is the book of priests, the P section of the Biblical criticism division. Its main theme is tum'ah and tohorah ("impurity" and "purity") and how to make the priestly class (kohanim and Levites) live off the gullible believers. Tithing, donations, sacrifices and suchlike are stipulated here. Leviticus is the book where primitive ritual takes over "advanced" monotheism. Even the later books of the Bible, for example Isaiah, are critical of the Leviticus mindset (saying that the people engage in expiatory sacrifice instead of righteousness - pretty much like Christianity, where you just have to focus on the sacrifice of that man, and a moral life won't get you to heaven).
