Writing a paper for a philosphy class... need inspiration for some names
Hey all... I'm writing a paper for my intro philosophy class over the last two topics we've covered (namely, creation vs. evolution and determinism vs. free will). I've decided to write in dialogue form, like Berkeley's Dialogues between Hylas and Philonous.
What I need is suggestions for names of my characters. I would like to use something that is suggestive of their stance. I will be defending the evolution and determinism viewpoints. Perhaps something like the latin words for "knowledge" and "faith?" Thanks in advance. |

Or you could stick with John's suggestion and call them "Bub" and "Shrub". Regards, Bill Snedden |

Actually, scientia is knowledge. The Latin term for wisdom is, sapientia--as in homo sapiens, wise man.
The Hebrew term for wisdom is, chokmah. The Greek term for wisdom is, sophia. The Hebrew term for faith is, emunah or emet. The Greek term for faith is, pistos. The Latin term for create is, creabit or creavit this is not lexical. The Hebrew term for create is, bara The Greek term for create is, poiema. Latin for free is, liber Greek is elutheros Latin for slave is, servos Greek for slave is, doulos Hebrew for slave is, ebed. Not sure what the terms for evolution are. Sorry. Maybe try the terms for change or flux. |
