As she should! I would have a very hard time attending a news conference with my husband after he admitted having sex with that girl.

His use of the word "innocent" is an attempt to win public approval (which may influence his trial). "Innocent" sounds good, so he says it. Any decent lawyer would probably advise him to say such things, regardless of what he did or did not do.

By "decent", in this context, I mean "effective". The job of a lawyer is to get his or her defendant a victory. That is why they are paid. The prosecution's goal, at that point, is to get a conviction. Unfortunately, some will proceed even if new evidence suggests that the person is innocent. (Prosecutors want to be reelected, and that means that someone must go to jail for many crimes, regardless of whether or not the person is really guilty. Most people merely assume that the person is really guilty if they are convicted. Unfortunately, DNA evidence has proven that in many cases in the past, the person either was not guilty at all, or the events did not happen at all as the prosecutor claimed in the trial.)

I remember hearing some silly people saying that they thought that he must be innocent because he was a good family man. (That was said before he admitted that he had sex with her.)

I think he would justify his use of the word "innocent" as meaning that he is innocent of the crime that he is accused of committing, not as indicating that he is innocent in other ways.

I don't know the details about this case, but I do know that women far too often accuse men of rape when they are looking for a paycheck. In actual cases of rape, it is a horrible thing, but so many times a woman isn't raped at all. I bet it went something like this:
Kobe: "Cmon baby, take your clothes off"
girl: "I dont know.."
Kobe: "I dont got much time, cmon"
girl: "But I dont know if I want to"
Kobe: "Im a star basketball player, trust me, you want to"
girl lets Kobe have sex with her.

And after this the girl cries rape. I am not saying this is how it happened but it is a very real possibility. And it disgusts me when women do something like this.

How often and how many, Jake? Or was that just hyperbole?

I would say that this is a rather inaccurate statement. Can you site some of the allegedly plentiful examples of women accusing men of rape for a paycheck and compare them to the reported rape statistics?

I think everyone should be disgusted when false accusations are made against anyone, but as the facts in the case are not in yet it seems inappropriate to claim that she might be doing this for a paycheck. Furthermore, as the charges as currently in criminal court and NOT civil court she won't be collecting any money from a criminal proceeding.

So you are condoning this sort of behavior?

No, he should not pay her a half-penny but countersue her and send her to jail if she has been lying!
