The irony here is that religious indoctrination is the ark and because it is indoctrinated without rational justification it leads to a flood [of inquiries] wherein we become engulved by confusion and carried away beyond our own will. John 21:18 is an explantion of the flood and how our carefree existence leads to captivity.

"I tell you solemly:
as a young man
you fastened your belt
and went about as you pleased;
but when you are older
you will stretch out your hands,
an another will tie you fast
and carry you off against your will."

The problem is that the ark must be built of the right material and all animals must be on board:

If he had know
unstructured space
is a deluge
and stocked his life house-boat
with all of the animals
even the wolves . . .
he might have floated.

But obstinate he stated
the land is solid
and stamped,
watching his foot go down
through stone
up to the knee.

Communion with the saints in heaven is a good guide for "ark building" because you can't argue with the success of flood survivors.

Edited to add: Notice that in John' verse the "went about as you pleased" signifies "no rain prior to the flood." Notice also that the "someone else" is not of our own initiative but "religious indoctrination" as opposed to "rational faith." This means that "religion shopping" already proves a flood disaster.
