Atheist homeland?
Somebody made a passing reference that we should start an atheist homeland, so that any atheists tired of putting up with religion all day will have somewhere to go.
So, I was wondering, how would we go about organizing such a thing? And where? |

We could try Antarctica. I don't think the natives would mind.

I say we take over Belize. There's only 200,000 Belizeans, and they have great weather and low real estate prices. Belize's GNP is about equal to a small U.S. town of 50,000. We could probably just buy the country outright.

After the 2000 presidential non-election I announced the formal secession of my apartment from the Union.
No one seemed to care, least of all my employer, who kept withholding taxes anyway. Bummer. But I am still the President of my apartment, and I hereby declare it totally secular. Does this mean I can declare war on the Jehovah's when they come to the door with their magazines of mass destruction? If you made a whole new country, what would you call it? Atheasia? Atheopia? |

Is this not what Amsterdam is?
I would imagine the land of sex and drugs would be rather secular. If someone gets me a decent job there, I'm gone. I'd even risk crossing the Atlantic by plane to follow this heathen dream. |

BTW, The ocean prefers to be called the Ocean Atlantique once you get a few hundred miles from the American shore. |
