Lynne Cheney's disturbing children's book
Has anybody seen this rather disturbing children's book by Lynne Cheney? It's called "America: A Patriotic Primer" and it goes thought the alphabet, "A" is for America, "C" is for Constitution, "F" is for Freedom and so on.
So guess what "G" is for? Yep, "G" is for God. This really upsets me. Since this is supposed to be a "Patriotic Primer" it continues the asinine notion that if you don't believe in god you are somehow unpatriotic or un-American. And this is a CHILDREN'S book. The fundies like to get 'em young. No wonder they want prayer in public schools. Cram their religion down our kid's throat whether they like it or not. Maybe the fundies should read this book and pay close attention to the "C" and "F" parts. |

Yup - I saw it, read it...and promptly hid every copy ShopKo had behind the COSMOs in the magazine aisle. Granted, this is really childish, but hey - it made me feel better.
