I mentioned to a 40-something year old woman that a shark, specifically the Whale shark, was the largest fish, and she replied that she thought a blue whale was the largest fish.

Hovind in a landslide
From my notes on his seminar (paraphrased)
"You may think the speed of light is constant, but is it? Suppose a car driving at 60 mph passes you on the side of the road. Relativity tells us that to the driver, light is travelling at 'c'. but to you, light is moving at c+60 mph" Cheers Joe Meert |

I'd forgotten that one. Hovind has missed his calling. He could have been the top, stand-up comic of our generation. Wait! What am i talking about? Hell, he already is! doov |

I grew up a Seventh-Day Adventist and I went
to one of their schools from grades 1-8. They taught us that what evolutionists believe is that monkeys SPONTANEOUSLY turn into people. Not that people evolved from monkeys which is itself wrong, but that trained scientists believe that humans are created by springing forth from monkeys. It's so surreal to think that they actually taught us this. It angers me, too. I need to corner one of those teachers and ask them why they would flagrantly lie like that. Obviously they know better. |

I was chatting with a particularly ignorant creationist one night and the subject broached geology and eventually, erosion.
Realizing that I wasn't exactly dealing with a genius on the subject I attempted to make it simple, and used the grand canyon as an example. I explained erosion, time, strata, etc. and sat back confident in my arguments. Then she destroyed the entire premise of my arguments in one fell swoop when she said "Well if that's true then the niagara falls would have eroded it's way through the whole earth by now and cut it in half!" I calmly beat my head against my keyboard, and moved on. Surprisingly, I later heard she claimed victory in our "debate". :banghead: |
