It is my pesonal beleif that religion must exist for mankind for perpetuate itself into a better existance. Some people need religion to do their everyday jods and deeds. People such as Mother Teresa helped further mankind due to her theism. This is only my veiw. Some Atheists are intolerant and some Theists are intolerant. It is called ignorance.

Generally speaking, some atheists can be as intolerant as some theists, since we are of the same species. However, we have yet to have an atheist president denouncing theists as unpatriotic or saying negative things regarding their citizenship.
So what brought you to the forum, luvluv? |

Bonduca, plase there are no hostilities here. But I would like you to know that when I read that comment made by Pres. Bush SR. it nearly brought me to tears. I have much pride in my country and I consider myself very patriotic, but that statement hurt me. Your Point is very valid and until Some Theist are on the receiving end of some of that abuse by their icons, they will never know, truly, how it feels to be Atheist.

In Luvluv's other thread, I hvae extensively addressed the problems of Mother Teresa.
Also, Luvluv, why don't you chime in with a stance? Michael |

BTW, atheists can be intolerant, but there is nothing in the simple statement "there are no gods" that entails intolerance. Atheism is just a belief, not a system.

luvluv, it seems to me that the only way any atheist on this board could have a valid or useful opinion on anything is if they agreed with you that religion is good. I think you perceive it as intolerance when we are not persuaded by your arguments. We have tolerated your expression of your views, but most of us haven't found your arguments convincing.
Assuming that you go to church, does your religion invite an atheist guest speaker every month to talk about the fact that no god exists? If every single piece of currency in circulation in the US said "There Is No God" would you feel it was no big deal? I would be happy to have a discussion with you, but if my lack of belief makes everything I say wrong or invalid in your opinion, I'm not sure how far you expect any discussion to go. How's the weather, wherever you are? It's raining here. |
