EVEN IF IT WERE TRUE....
I rememeber ages ago someone posted something about even if xianity were true they wouldn't accept it (I didn't actually read any of it though). But anyway, I have come to the conclusion that personaly, even if it could be proven I also would not accept xianity.Mainly because of the facist nazi rightwing bastard option God gives us (love me or I'll send you to hell). And the fact that hell exists for people to suffer for all eternity with NO 2nd chance ever being given. But what I wonder is, what are you people's views on this matter. If it were true, would you, or would you not accept and why? (hey, i'm going through a deconversion stage and need a bit of support ok?!)

But maybe a better question is 'How can it be true?' A god advertised as 'loving' will judge you on at best 100 years of life on earth for all eternity. And as you say with no 2nd chance. It is the discrepancies in xtianity that are the problem.

The idea that we are all headed for hell on account of something our first parents did... enough said what I think about THAT...
Anyway, it isn't true. For it to be true, evolution must be false and heliocentrism must be false. Evolution means no such two people ever existed, and heliocentrism means that the earth-centred sequence of events involving the creation of the cosmos could not have taken place. |

I think you mean geocentricism must be false, Heathen Dawn-
If it were true, I would want to know what there is to do in heaven, besides just flitting around the place for eons, before accepting it. [ September 06, 2002: Message edited by: Sci_Fidelity ]</p> |

If xianity could be proven true, I would have to accept it as truth.
That being said, I, like the others here, would not worship such a deity. It only takes a brief browse through the OT to make me want to soak in a tub of solvent in order to cleanse myself. Such a being is, in my opinion, the epitome of, er, evil. I'd rather skinny dip in the lake of fire than praise such a horrid abomination. -Nick |

As for the question at hand, if it were true I don't know what the point would be in not accpeting it. Hell would suck. Heaven would be better. Eternity is a long time to make a point. Of course, if you stew plumbs like rhubarb they taste must more like applesauce that cherries do. |

I'd rather accept truth than falsehood. Its the reason I don't believe in gods now, and it is the reason I would believe if they were shown to be true.

If xianity were true, heaven would be hell for me too. Just think, to go on for 999 Trillion(to the 10th power) more years, and just barely be in the infancy of eternity. I shudder at the thought. |

Hey, but won't eternity be "fun" if you're in heaven? Of course pain for eternity will not be nice either-guess you lose out either way....
sakrilege: Thanks for the link, I read that topic awhile ago. |

Maybe a better comment would have been an old Pierre Trudeau quote responding to an "if"-ism: "And if my grandmother had wheels, she'd be a bus." |
