Am I Evil?
I hear the term "Evil" thrown around alot lately by our government. My question is, as an atiest, who chooses not to beleive in god. Would i be considered evil by relgiuous standards?

By many religious standards, or more realistically by at least some practitioners of many religions, yes.
as an atiest, who chooses not to beleive in god Not exactly a preferred way to phrase your approach to atheism, IMO. Sounds too much like there's really a god that you choose not to believe in. I prefer "As an atheist, who lacks belief in god" or something similar. Just a thought. |

I wanted to express the fact that im aware of the idea of god. Compared to someone whos culture was unaware of the concept. If yes, then are there scriptures to back this belief up? |

In the Bible and the Koran, yes there are. I'm not sure about other religious texts. |

Evil?
How could not believing in God ever make you evil? I'm a Christian, and I have faith that evil definitely exists. But I'm confused as to why not believing in God would merit evil. That seems like a jump.

Don't know if you're evil, but if the likes of the AIG group, the YEC'ers, etc....if they get their wish to "reform" america back to those roots that people fled to america to get away from in the first place(irony meter on overload), then you might get burned at the stake. Other than that, don't know if you would be seen as evil, or just a heretic. Either way, the fundies will be waiting for you with pitchforks...Like the song goes
"They say that abortion will send you straight, to a fiery hell... That is if the fanantics.. don't beat...Satan to the kill" |

By the fundies? No, you're evil just for thinking that they might not be right. By stating it, you are in league with the devil.
I'll just come out and say it, as I am a minor god...You are evil, fall and worship at my feet. And then let's go burn some non-believers. Afterwards, Icecream, god's gotta eat you know. |

Ask your god, not us. He's the one who's supposedly gonna send all unbelievers to hell (or, as many xians claim, let us freely choose to go to hell). |

Well, there is Matthew 12:30 (also see Luke 11:23) "He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters." This certainly implies that if you don't believe in and follow Jesus, then you are not just mistaken, you're actually adversarial. And it would follow that anyone who is against God is evil. I'm not familiar with the Koran, but I think there are similar expressions. |
