Default What About Those Who DON'T have faith?

In previous discussions, certain theists have admitted that their faith is irrational, based on nothing other than an internal "knowledge," and with reason playing no part in their decision to accept god(s)

So what about the poor atheist who doen't have this elusive intuitive calling? Is he damned to eternal punishment because the god that he doesn't recognise failed to give him the intuition that would facilitate god's recognition and acceptance?

Everyone has the same intuition and ability to find God, many just choose to reject it and hide from the truth ( whether they are concious or aware of it or not).

So how can you hide from it if you are not conscious or aware of it?

Rediculous and, as usual, qualified in such a fashion as to make it untestable and therefore unassailable.

A similar statement: Everyone is gay, many just choose to reject it and hide from the truth (whether they are aware of it or not).

The poor atheist could attempt to convince him/herself, despite his/her perception that evidence would lead to the contrary conclusion, that there was a given deity and that it was necessary to worship said deity, even if one did not really believe in its existence.

I don't know if any deity would accept that, however.

Right. Everyone has the same intuition and ability to know, deep down, there is no god. Many just choose to reject it and hide from the truth because their belief brings them comfort. They are so successful at this denial that they may not even be conscious of it.

Of course, my assertion is no better or worse than yours, is it? Neither is disprovable, as Amaranth said. The fact that you can't prove either wrong means, by default, that you can't prove either right, either.

Nonsense, Magus, but in any case what about those vast numbers of people whose 'intuition and ability' leads them to a God other than the Christian one? How do you convince them that their intuition is wrong and yours is right? What criteria do you use (other than quoting the Bibble at them - after all, they'll be able to quote right back from their own scriptures).
