In Catholicism all sentient being have a soul but only the soul of Catholics is enriched by the Christian God of Catholicism. So animals do not have a human soul but all of mankind does . . . except for the saints in heaven.

I heard someone say, that the jews mention some place, where they are in standby mode, that is they were until Jesus unlocked the gates to heaven

Dunno if it is true, but I heard

That is protestant theology and just not true. The reason why they must arrive at that conclusion is because they have to wait for the second coming before heaven is available to them. They fail to realize that their [so called] "salvation" (emphasis on quotation marks) is supposed to be, or have been, the second coming of Christ but since it was/is a self inflicted idol the true "realization" did not follow the event. Hence they hope like hell it comes after they die (as they must).

Based on the above do they presume that the first coming of Christ for the Jews has not been as of yet and therefore Jews are on the same "waiting list" as they are. Here again, they fail to realize that the first coming of the "messiah" for the Jews will be a personal event and this will/did send them to heaven each in their own way at their own time.

Yup, like thebeave says, the YEC's will tell you that the Earth is merely thousands of years old, so there weren't any cavemen. Just started with Adam and Eve followed by all of the "begats" in the early OT. Until everyone got wiped out in the Flood and Noah's family had to start the whole incestual thing all over again!

Just wondering what you guys think about this.

Did the early humans, that could not communicate verbally, had no knowledge about religion, and no bible, go to heaven?? Think about it? And what arguments could a religious person make on this topic?
From the Christians I've talked to, the answer to this is: No.

Hey, nobody said God was fair.

On a more serious line ... How do Christians feel about those who suffer serious injuries or aging resulting in... loss of mental capticity .... Physical disabilities .... etc

There has been some thinking along the lines you have presented. Catholic theologians of the Middle Ages,(I sense an Amos cruise missile coming at me), bent over backwards to claim that pre-christ Greek philosophers were in heaven. Their reasoning(sic) was based on ideas that these guys achieved salvation before anyone even knew how to get it.

I doubt any of the theologians would have included cavemen in heaven but they sure wanted to have the smart elites of Ancient Greece floating around with them. Who would want a smelly caveman anyway?

AS A MATTER OF FACT, sullster, they did take these Greek philosophers with them because when we built our religion on their wisdom we incorporated their world of wisdom into ours and later we took it to heaven with us.

I am sure you would agree that we color our own heaven while on earth and so anybody who can enrich our lives will be added to our richess in heaven (what is tied on earth is tied in heaven and what is loosed on earth is loosed in heaven).

Cavemen have their own heaven and I am sure that it is very populated but still kind of shallow and therefore easy to reach.

Amos, would you say that your heaven is like a party full of interesting types and then suddenly cavemen show up. They are crude, ignorant and smelly, so you take your drinks and move away from them, over by the Greek philosophers.

Good thing, you are catholic, and don't buy that "equality of all souls" stuff of the prods. You would have to hang around with the cavemen then.

Then again, there may not be alcoholic drinks in your heaven. Just as well, those cavemen can get mighty rowdy after a few drinks I hear.
