Problems with Satan
If evil cannot stand in the presence of God/if evil cannot exist in Heaven, then how was Satan able to last in Heaven after evil entering his heart, and how was he able to accuse Job directly in front of God?

Jove,
These are very good questions. But you'd probably get more responses in the Biblical Criticism area. Maybe you could post it over there or a moderator might move this one for you. |

An even more intriguing enigma to consider ~
Given the alleged omnipotence of the character known as "God", why would a 'perfect' angel (currently known commonly as "Satan") choose to compete? Unless the mythical Dark One spotted a certain fallibility. |

Sam Kenison once said Satan is just God when he's drunk.

I've often thought that god as an evil entity playing games with humans makes more sense than the xtian version. |

And if you read up on the whole Lucifer story, it doesn't make sense. You know, the story goes that satan was a fallen angel (Lucifer). There is only ONE reference to Lucifer in the entire Bible!!!(Isaiah 14:12)Read the passage IN CONTEXT! (the couple of verses right before & after it) and it's pretty obvious that this is talking about a fallen king, not a fallen angel.
So then, where did satan of the bible come from? |

From another thread ...<a href="http://iidb.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=47&t=001227" target="_blank">Lucifer</a> This answers some of your observations. |

Cool. I hadn't even read that thread when I posted the above reply. Great minds think alike, eh?
My totally unscientific theory is that they just made satan up as a means to explain evil, b/c it couldn't have possibly come from the all-powerful, all-benevolent god! |
