I'm with Ju'iblex. The death penalty is always wrong and should never be implemented. Even if there were some magic way to guarantee that only those who 'deserved' it were punished, I'd still be against it because of the barbarism it inspires in ordinary citizens -- barbarism like that in your post.
NO in my opinion 16 years old is old enough to know what the hell you are doing, and old enough to be held responsible. You do bring up a point..there is a fine line when it comes to young offenders. At what age should something as extreme as a death penalty be used?

And yes. when i think of my child being murdered, i get barbaric. gee sorry. umm guess i should work on that?? no..dont think so bud.

Apparently, your child or yourself are more likely to be murdered in States that have the death penalty. So, what do you hope to achieve by dishing out the Death penalty? A reduction in that kind of crime? One would hope that that would be your ultimate aim; but it doesn't work. Many studies have proved this.

How about the mother of the 16 year old you would so enjoy killing with your bare hands? Does she then get to do the same to you?

Gee that is funny. I'll have to give my local mental health office a call. Apparently I am a sick fucker for feeling as though a monster who could stab an innocent child should get the same. Well we all know what they say about opinions.

I am happy to know you are evolved enough to just be graceful when someone rapes and murders your child. You can take them nicely by the hand, lead them to a quiet room away from everyone, and take em some nice meals every day, and of course, to keep it humane, the food will have to be healthy and palatable. That wont be cheap for ya, but that's quite alright. You won't mind, you are nice like that.

Nope. pure and simple barbaric revenge. An eye for an eye, the only part of that book i agree with.

If my son commits a murder, am I going to be happy about the punishment?? hell no, my life will be over the minute he commits an atrocity like that. But will i be feeling sorry for myself, for my loss? yeah, in my heart, but in my head..feel anger towards the victims mother for wanting justice done? not at all.

What's that saying? - An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth leaves everyone blind and gumming each other to death?

Surely, you would like to see a reduction in this kind of crime, rather than an increase? Therefore, the death penalty makes no sense, as those States with the death penalty are highest statistically in violent crime and homocide.

That is not what I asked. If you believe in an eye for eye and feel entitled to murder anyone who harmed/murdered your child, doesn't that mean that the parent of the person you killed is just as entitled to murder you?

No. just the thought of it tears me apart. there isnt anything harder to deal with than the loss of a child. Anyone who goes through something as tragic as that, I don't know how they go on. Any moms in here will know what I am talking about. Children are my weakness, they are so precious, and there are so many horrible things that happen to them in this world
I am a bit of a wimp when it comes to disturbing news, I don't watch the news bc of these kind of acts. Especially now, I am pregnant so the hormones are raging! But when I hear something like this it sticks wiht me, and i carry it around for a while. My empathy genes are super sized...
