Age of the Earth according to creationism and genealogies
As far as I know, the Young-Earth Creationists base their view on the age of the Earth on the genealogies found in the bible. I don't know if this has been pointed out, but...
1 Timothy, 1:4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. Titus, 3:9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. |

Both of these quotes were written after the conflicting genealogies in Matthew and Luke. Somebody was just trying to cover his backside.

yet more proof that theists will gladly ignore sections of their holy books that don't agree with how they want God, the universe, and history to be.
