What do you think about discordianism?
I've been trying to decide what books to purchase for my upcoming birthday, and I've been perusing Amazon.com a lot. I'm reading through a book review, and it says "Deconstructionists and discordians will like this!". So, of course, I type "discordian" into the search box, and come across "Principia Discordia" and Robert Anton Wilson works ("Prometheus Rising", in particular). So, what I'm asking is this: should I waste my time on discordianism and these books?

Isn’t that all about chaos “magic” and other mombo jombo?
These people hear about QM and think that it’ll give ‘em occult powers. It’s probably good for a laugh or two but I wouldn’t waste too much time on it. It being fictitious nonsense and all… |

Actually RAW's books are quite good and fun to read. I don't think I would use them as a basis for a way of life though.
That would be like somebody making up a religion based on the Jedi. You know, completely dorky. Discordianism as a philosophy? Nah, I'll pass. |
