Zechariah 14-Sacrifices continue post-Apocalypse
It is often stated that Jesus was a once-and-for-all sacrifice. However, in Zechiriah 14, a great apocalyptic battle is described where the Lord defends Jerusalem, the Mount of Olives is destroyed, and a new "super-Israel" and "Super-Jerusalem is created, becoming the capital of the world. This prophecy is reinstated in the Book Of Revelation. Consistent with Christian theology so far...
However, what's interesting is this: Zechiriah 14:21 And every cooking pot in Jerusalem and Judah shall be sacred to the Lord of Hosts, so that all who sacrifice may come and use them to boil the flesh of the sacrifice. So in this new Israel it is obvious there will still be sacrifices. So if Jesus was the "final" sacrifice, how do you explain this? |

Zechariah 14:21 "Yea, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be holiness unto the LORD of hosts: and all they that sacrifice shall come and take of them, and seethe therein:"
Sacrifice is the obedience of love in the OT. Hosea 6:6 For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. 1 Samuel 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. The Millenium sacrifices are symbolic of love and obedience. |
