Hovind coming to town
I was browsing the Doctor's web site and noticed that the esteemed Doctor Hovind himself is coming to speak at a church near me early next year.
A slightly crazy side of me says that I should volunteer to be a debate partner. Would I be a fool for engaging in such folly? If I were to do so, what strategy would be most effective? Obviously I wouldn't want to play the fool in Hovind's little stage show. I'd want to attack him somewhere where he didn't expect it. |

Do show up, though, and publicly puncture his idiocy with a few pointed questions. |

Expose his garbage in writeing, it's the only way. Things like his credentials, his endless lies, his bogus offer, fabricated evidence, useing false claims that even other creationists have rejected etc. I think the audience (the Hovind friendly part anyway) would listen more to AIG saying the moon dust argument is bogus than anyone else. Facts are facts of course but one can hardly accuse AIG of having a "materialistic evilutionist agenda blah blah blah" right? For good measure, give some web linked references to places like talkorigins, Patrick's site and other places like that. Get about say, a dozen or so claims from his presentations (I doubt they've changed much. It's not like he gives a shit if it's accurate is it?) and expose it for the garbage it is. Maybe an article or two by Gould especially "Evolution as fact and theory" and "Hooking Leviathian by its past". It'll give a more accurate version of his ideas that "a reptile layed an egg and a bird hatched". Maybe the local university will help you out. Not with a debate but presentations after Hovind's. A biologist, a geologist etc. Should be effective at exposeing his deception. IMO, it wouldn't be effective to have oral questions. Hovind can think (for lack of a better word) on his feet and invent bullshit on the fly. Best to expose his garbage in writeing. Announce that you'd be happy to have a written debate with him where claims can be properly defended and refuted and references can be checked. Hovind will refuse on the basis that he has no time but given that he has his material already written and given that he believes it's rock solid fact, that's a pretty lame excuse! Just a few suggestions. check this out! <a href="http://www.geocities.com/kenthovind/contradictions.html" target="_blank">http://www.geocities.com/kenthovind/contradictions.html</a> You could also point out Hovind's views on Income tax and his related problems. Then point out that Hovind constantly whines about how his tax dollars (which he refuses to pay) are being spent. <a href="http://www.geocities.com/kenthovind/lies/bankrupt.html" target="_blank">http://www.geocities.com/kenthovind/lies/bankrupt.html</a> [ August 08, 2002: Message edited by: tgamble ]</p> |

Speaking of Hovind
<a href="http://www.geocities.com/kenthovind/ron.html" target="_blank">http://www.geocities.com/kenthovind/ron.html</a> It's both sad and hilarious. Hovind is a complete and utter moron. |

A short summary, with citations, of his bankruptcy judgement might be handy to pass amongst the sheep. Those likey to show at one of his presentations might be highly offended at his attitude towards paying taxes. If you can show that he lied on his taxes, and lied in court, it might be easier to sway some folks to the idea that he is also spreading falsehoods concerning evolution.

Perhaps you can show people that prestigious university where "Dr." Hovind "earned" his PhD from:
