Well, I sure hope you don't wear them because you think they look good!

And you women should be wearing pants that actually come up to your waist too, sheesh!

Of course, as this means I don't seem very interesting to most girls, I try to not inconvenience them by having to deal with me...
'cause I'm stupid like that. *sigh*

This issue has to include the relative age of the sexes. When you are very young, "not acting like a typical guy", gets you nowhere with the girls. Young females say they don't like the loud type guys, but look around and those are the guys who get all the action.

Things change as you age. Mature women are more interested in your "non-typical guy". You will become more interesting later on. The tough part will be listening to all those stories of sexual conquests by your loud and arrogant friends.

I have to say, I'm relatively young (18 in four days), and I've never been attracted to loud, obnoxious guys. Exactly where are you looking around? I think that if you looked closer, you would find that those aren't the only guys who attract women, however old they are.

At any rate, I think it's largely a fear of rejection from the women, and that is most definitely a two-way street.

(offtopic) For those of us who have short waists or anything other than washboard abs, pants that hit at the waist can make us look like Pat from SNL. Not cute. Agree that those super-low-rise jeans are skanky, and I'm happy they're going away, but speaking as someone with almost no torso -- my ribcage ends about two inches above my hips -- I gotta say nuh-uh to this suggestion.

Also, if God didn't want us to wear heels, She wouldn't have made our legs look so great in 'em.

Scary obsessiveness about fashion. Another reason to fear women.

Angry Sterotyping guys

Why is it "politically correct" to stereotype guys, often without any reason. Like that guys "fear" women, that they have difficulties with communication (isn't it rather that guys can say more with less and that women just yapp too much) or that the "typical guy" is loud and obnoxious (many girls I know are loud and obnoxious too - it's an individual trait).

Imagine a similar thread dragging a "typical girl/woman" through the mud...

Snicker. Really, though, UMoC, what exactly about this thread do you find insulting? Quotes, please. I just re-read it and can't figure out what you're talking about w/r/t mud-dragging.

Some men do fear women, and it's natural to wonder why. Many men, including some who have posted here, do not. But the fear exists, and why it does is a valid question, I think.

Ok.

sullster:
" Female sensuality can be so intoxicating that it interferes with the admittedly limited verbal abilities of young males."

He is saying that males have limited verbal abilities.

you:
"I've also noticed that some men seem to resent women a good deal."

You say this without noting that many women resent men as well.

"women have a good measure of control over men"

Which basically says that you think men are weak.
Of course, if in a gioven relationship a man has control than that is "patriachal" and should be combatted. Not.

sullster:"Mature women are more interested in your "non-typical guy". You will become more interesting later on. The tough part will be listening to all those stories of sexual conquests by your loud and arrogant friends."

Calling typical guys "loud" and "arrogant".

Of course you don't find this all insulting or offensive as you are not on the receiving end.

Do you disagree with the idea that young persons in general, including young males, have limited verbal abilities? That has certainly been my observation.
you:

I was responding to the question put forth in the OP. Nothing more.

"women have a good measure of control over men"

Which basically says that you think men are weak.

I intended no such thing, and I apologize if my meaning wasn't clear. Women DO have control over men, by dint of biology. Men want women. (Straight men, anyway.) And any time an individual possesses something that another individual wants, the possessor has a measure of control. This goes for everything from sex to auctions on eBay. It's common sense. And it's uncomfortable for people to know that someone else has control over them. I think that men are socialized to think that having control is a quality of manhood, and when they feel they don't have control, it makes them feel crummy.

Of course, if in a gioven relationship a man has control than that is "patriachal" and should be combatted. Not.

Did I say that?

sullster:"Mature women are more interested in your "non-typical guy". You will become more interesting later on. The tough part will be listening to all those stories of sexual conquests by your loud and arrogant friends."

Uh, no. I think that sullster is saying that the loud and arrogant will regale one with tales of sexual conquest. I find this to be true. I know my loud arrogant female friends go on about their conquests ad nauseam.
