Default New Laws: Hindu Fundies Move To Squash Christian Missionaries

New Laws Severely Limit What Xtian Missionaries Can Do

"Sermons may also be affected. The law says that warning someone about "divine displeasure" -- telling them that God hates sin -- is a threat, and therefore an illegal use of force.

Malaviya also objects to the new requirement that Gujaratis must get permission from a magistrate before changing religions. "This is a matter of one's personal relationship with God," he says."

Wait!......oh....oh....nevermind. I almost gave a damn but it went away. Good find, too bad that threat law can't be applied here in the states. I would have the courts full of people "threatening" me by telling me I'm going to Hell for being a Pagan.

Religious fundamentalism of any kind is abhorrent. I may not be Indian and I certainly am not a protestant but I support the Reverend here. Supporting the separation of church/temple and state means advocating for the rights of minority religious groups. After all, if minority protestants in India are not protected what chance do atheists/agnostics/IPU worshipers have?

These Hindus are not really fundy. They are nationalists, and are contradicting the history of Hinduism, which has historically been tolerant of other religions. It appears that they are treating Christians as if they were communists, which in effect, they are - undermining the social structure, subverting the basis of society, and diverting people's loyalties to a foreign power.

Agreed.

The Xians have already destroyed far to many cultures with their evangelism.

Actually, it's been my (limited) experience that the in your face christians are the ones pissing the hindus off. If you are a quiet respectful christian, they let it slide for the most part.

I could be wrong.

Most of (Eastern Orthodox Christian) Eastern Europe, including Greece and Russia, have laws against Christian missionaries, aimed at missionaries from America. They are worried about American evangelists coming into their country and buying converts with their American dollars.

It's a dilemma. Freedom of conscience is a basic human right, but when religion is marketed like Coca Cola, I can sympathize with people who want to regulate it.

Default The Mor(m)on Church

Speaking of buying allegiances, the moron church builds nice fancy basketball courts next to their community center-churches to lure witless basketball-crazed
(only asian country [though im not sure about china anymore] that isn't football crazy, which is bad)
countrymen, most of whom have yet to play in a decent court. and poke them with such mormonism that they end up mor(m)on catholics (mormons on paper, who, when pushed to th wall, will still claim the pope is the head of christianity). then there's the jehovans, with their yank door-to-door salesmen (taking advantage of a condition that most of my people have colonial mentality, the belief that anything from the west is always better than anything local) with decent flyers that the local CPP-KMU (Communist Party- Largest Worker's Union, though protesters are college studets) protesters would kill for.
