Man: love me! Woman: I don't love you! Man: love me, or else... Woman: or else what...? Man: or else I'll roast you on a small fire! Woman: I love you! Some God you worship, Magus. The Devil couldn't have been a worse choice. |

(speaking from a theistic evolutionist point of view) God wanted to give other beings the experience of self-creation and development. http://www.aaas.org/spp/dser/evoluti...s/haught.shtml |

Thinking about this, I think it would be interesting to see how many times your god is attributed with acts of blatant violence, hatred, and torture in his own book. It seems to me that after you get past counting out all the drownings, burnings, hewing like sticks, and such, there might not be much left. Amaranth |

And proof that God doesn't exist? You have no proof God doesn't exist whatsoever. It can't be and has never been disproven. You won't find out for sure until you die, and after that its too late. {personal insult deleted} ... go do something good for the world, since its all you have and all the work will be gone in a few decades. |

I've personally seen this explained to Magus five ( 5 ( V ) ) times now. My turn to give it a shot: The burden of proof is with he who makes the claim of existance. You cannot prove a negative. That established, your god has no more evidence for its existanc ethan any other god, nor even any other mythical being, i.e. vampires, werewolves, and leprechauns. This is why modern man has evolved beyond this line of thinking, calling things facts when they are proven to exist, not because they have yet to be proven not to exist. {I deleted the rest of this since it quotes amd discusses an insult I deleted from the source.} Amaranth |

I agree with that, Magus, but it won't work on our materialist friends. They take the path of least resistance: the burden of proof is on YOU. The easy way Quote:
I agree with that. Quote:

Man was created to do the grunt work on Earth because the other gods didn't feel like it. It says so right here on Tablet 6 of the Enuma Elish:
“And communicated to him the plan that he was considering. Let me put blood together, and make bones too. Let me set up primeval man: Man shall be his name. Let me create a primeval man. The work of the gods shall be imposed (on him), and so they shall be at leisure. Let me change the ways of the gods miraculously, Let the one who started the war be given up to me, And he shall bear the penalty for his crime, that you may dwell in peace.' The Igigi, the great gods, answered him, Their lord Lugal-dimmer-ankia, counsellor of the gods, It was Qingu who started the war, He who incited Tiamat and gathered an army!' They bound him and held him in front of Ea, Imposed the penalty on him and cut off his blood. He created mankind from his blood, Imposed the toil of the gods (on man) and released the gods from it |

*ahem* Some new facts for the new world of rational thought: Werewolves are real. Vampires are real. Faeries are real. Leprechauns are real. Changelings are real. The monster under your bed? Not only real, but very upset about that time you wet the bed. Unicorns? Real. Invisible Pink Unicorns? Real as well. Brain eating zombies easily halted with boarded up windows? Real. The X-Men? Protecting you since you were young. Santa Claus? You never caught him cause you were a bad kid, but he's real. Now those are all fun facts. However, my real problem comes into play with the facts that are mutually exclusive. Facts like the existance of Jehova, Allah, Vishnu, The Great Sky Spirit, Zues, Odin, et cetera ad naseum. How, exactly, does Superman exist in the same world as Spider-Man? The legal ramifications are stunning. Le sigh... |
