Post Postal Service To Put Up God Motto Nationwide

<a href="http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/front/1664534" target="_blank">http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/front/1664534</a>

Just recently, Frank Williamson was thwarted in his bid to display posters depicting the national motto, "In God We Trust," at Montgomery County post offices. Now, not only will he see the phrase in his local county; it will be placed in all 38,000 post offices across the country.
Quote:
Williamson initially provided posters not only to post offices, but also to schools, libraries and police stations in Montgomery County.

"I did it after the terrorist attacks on 9/11 because I wanted everyone to remember that our nation has always been successful because our forefathers put their trust in God," he said.

Karyl Palmisano with Mainstream Montgomery County had originally objected to Williamson's efforts to put his posters around the county.

"His object was to emphasize that we are a Christian nation, which is standard religious right material," she said. "I had a little problem with the motive behind what he was doing, but I have no trouble with what the post office now wants to do. I think it's wonderful."

Lewin, the postal spokesman, could not predict the cost of the posters or when they will displayed.

Frank Gonzales, 48, a postal customer in Harris County, said he was pleased by the Postal Service's decision.

"It's about time," he said. "If you don't trust in God, who do you trust?"
That's just great

I think they should also consider putting up:

Ignorance is Strength
War is Peace
Slavery is Freedom

Your tax dollars no longer support the Post Office - it is (allegedly) self supporting, through sales of postage stamps.

Can we get equal space for the First Amendment? Or the original motto, E Pluribus Unum?

And just to show our moslem friends that we're not just trying to promote xianity, I think I'll print up a bunch of "Allah" stickers to cover the "God" part of the poster. Or maybe a little (TM) symbol for god.

Then I'll stop buying stamps.

No, I can't do that. *sigh*

The postal service may be self supporting but isn't it still a government agency? Aren't postal workers considered government employees? I really don't know but I guess its a moot point as "In God We Trust" is now the national motto.

I agree about E Pluribus Unum, that is just a better motto in everyway.

Or how about a poster with the words "We The People..."

Whatever happened to E Pluribus Unum? Was it set aside or was there a campaign by the religious part of Pluribus?

E Pluribus Unum was replaced by IGWT in a wave of anti-communist hysteria in 1956.

I didn't realize the national motto was changed at that time. McCarthy again?
